The Diamond Heels hosted the Campbell Camels Tuesday night, coming off a series win against Virginia Tech. And it was another opportunity to get a win over a top 25 team this season.
What started as a hot performance by UNC ended up cold, with the Camels crawling back to win 6-5. The Tar Heels had it going early as outfielder Carter French got UNC on the board first with an RBI single. Then, in the third inning, the Tar Heels exploded for four runs, including a two-run home run from catcher Tomas Frick. Bright Steel Wire Rope
However, after the UNC hot third inning, they failed to muster up another run. Meanwhile, the Camels tied the game in the seventh inning before eventually winning due to a hit-by-pitch with bases loaded.
The bullpen struggles with UNC using six pitchers, allowing 11 hits and six runs, including three batters hit by pitch. The Diamond Heels will return on Wednesday as they travel to Eastern Carolina to take on the Pirates.
