Skies will be clear and the air will be cool for those in Tampa Bay looking to watch the sunset or go for a long walk on the beach this Valentine’s Day.
A weak cold front is expected to move into the area Monday night, bringing with it a small chance of showers. But much of the week, including Valentine’s Day on Wednesday, will likely be sunny and mild, said Rodney Wynn, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Tampa Bay office. Showers and a stray storm are likely to start around Tampa Bay about 8 p.m. Monday, but will move out of the area quickly. The cold front will leave behind cool, rain-free weather for the remainder of the workweek, Wynn said.
By Tuesday, the high will be in the mid- to upper 60s across the area. On Valentine’s Day, the morning is likely to be the chilliest of the week, when temperatures drop to the upper 40s.
However, forecasters anticipate the day will top out in the low 70s. Conditions will be cloudless and rain-free for any activities planned with a valentine. At night, temperatures will be chilly, dropping down to the 50s, according to the weather service’s seven-day forecast.
The rest of the workweek will remain on the warmer side, in the mid-70s. Wynn said the average temperature for this time of year in Tampa Bay runs around 74 degrees.
Saturday and Sunday clocked in as the warmest days of the month so far, when temperatures maxed out at 80 degrees in Tampa. With the month almost halfway over, February is averaging about 6 degrees above normal, Wynn said.
When this weekend rolls around, Wynn said to expect rain. The weather service is calling for a 70% chance of rain on Saturday, followed by a 60% chance on Sunday. Wynn said the rain will likely be showers and isolated thunderstorms.
