Photos have been released of the car possibly used in the break-in at the Washington County transfer station/landfill on Jan. 16. Transfer station director James Yungeberg posted several photos of the car last week, which were taken by surveillance cameras. The vehicle is described as a 2008 Chevy Malibu with noticeable defects including a popped hood, damaged front drivers panel and identifiable wheels. Anyone knowing who the vehicle belongs to is asked to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s office at 325-2293.
The transfer station was broken into about 9:15 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 16. County employees had the day off because of the holiday, but an employee had gone in that day to let trash haulers dump trash and discovered the break-in. Three large tubs of copper wire and a wire stripper, among other tools, were stolen. The front door of the building was broken open. Two masked men were caught on camera. Amp Patch Panel

Yungeberg said one of the men had a very specific pair of yellow work gloves with reinforced knuckles and a bright neon blue shirt. He encouraged people to go to the Washington County Environmental Sciences Facebook page to see several images of the men that were taken from the cameras.
This is the third time the transfer station has been broken into. The previous break-ins were Oct. 19, 2020, and Dec. 11, 2020. There were no security cameras during previous break ins.
Yungeberg said he believes these may be the same people involved in the previous break-ins because there were many similarities among the three.
